Makes about 3 dozen
2 3/4 (690 mL) cups flour
1 teaspoon (5 mL) baking soda
1/4 teaspoon (1 mL) salt
3/4 cup (375 mL) margarine or butter, softened
3/4 cup (375 mL) firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup (125 mL) BEEHIVE® Corn Syrup
or CROWN® Golden Corn Syrup
1 egg
1 teaspoon (5 mL) vanilla
1 pkg (8 oz) semi sweet chocolate, cut into 1/2" chunks, divided
1 cup (250 mL) chopped pecans, divided
In bowl combine flour, baking soda and salt.
In mixing bowl with mixer at medium speed beat margarine
and sugar until fluffy. Gradually beat in corn syrup. Beat in egg
and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour mixture until just combined.
Stir in half of the chocolate chunks and pecans. Drop dough
by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
Sprinkle with remaining chocolate chunks and pecans.
Bake in 350°F (180°C) oven 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
Cool on wire rack.
